ZEPPELIN SYSTEMS, A UNIQUE PROCESS

Plastics and polymers

Zeppelin Systems GmbH has developed a unique process that removes organoleptic gases from certain types of plastic. These are the gases that are left behind when producing plastics and that could then be transferred to food, for example. Specific applications require the removal of these gases from these plastics before use.

Zeppelin Systems does this by keeping the plastics at a high temperature for a prolonged length of time. The selected temperature stops the plastics from degrading or changing shape or structure, but they do release their organoleptic components. This process is known as 'degassing'.

The process becomes far more energy-efficient if plastics are preheated before they enter this process step. Once the degassing process has been completed, the plastics must be cooled down to manageable temperatures again for further transport and storage. All of the above led Zeppelin Systems to enter into a long-term and exclusive partnership with Mosman: Zeppelin Systems buys all of its heat exchangers for the heating and cooling of plastics from Mosman. Zeppelin opted for a partnership with Mosman because of the high quality and versatility of Mosman bulk solids heat exchanger technology and also because of its favorable price-quality ratio in comparison with competitors.

Besides this specific application, Mosman heat exchangers are used in other plastics production processes too: preheating to save energy during a particular process and cooling to reduce plastics to a manageable temperature for further transport and storage. Here too, Mosman is pleased to be able to provide prospective clients with a number of successful references.
